Reynolds helps England to perfection

WILMSLOW lacrosse star Mark Reynolds tasted European glory with England this week.

Reynolds represented his country at the 2008 European Championships and the England team enjoyed a perfect tournament record in Lahti, Finland.

They remained unbeaten in two group stages and the gold medal match against the Netherlands.

England opened with a 40-0 thrashing of Switzerland before enjoying successes against Ireland (22-1), Latvia (26-4), Spain (26-0) and Wales (16-6).

In the second group stage, England came through a tricky match against the host nation 10-5, with one goal and three assists from the Wilmslow representative.

They secured their place in the final with a 24-3 victory over Sweden.

In the gold medal match, England faced the Netherlands.

Dominating from the start, England raced to a 7-1 advantage in the first quarter and never looked back.

Reynolds was one of seven English scorers, hitting three of the goals in a 14-4 win.

Germany beat Sweden in the third-place play-off match.
