Wilmslow washed out

Wilmslow gained 12 valuable points in their battle against relegation at neighbours Alderley Park.
The game was abandoned, while most other games never got started. The Rectory outfit took five extra points over the bottom two.
Invitated to bat first, Wilmslow took full advantage, as Mike Harris and skipper Sam Wildsmith put on a century stand for the first wicket, Harris going on to make 72.
Steve Fulker then made light of the conditions and hit five sixes in a spectacular 35 as Wilmslow declared on 188-6.
Park’s reply saw 80 runs scored very quickly, before the introduction of Toby Newson, who picked up two of the three quick wickets that fell. The rain then denied either side a chance of victory.
n THE second XI managed to play to a conclusion against Trafford Metrovics, Wilmslow being content to see out the innings with the ball doing allsorts on a wet and variable pitch.
Trafford had batted well and made 182-8. Tom Rowe bowled well but had little luck, and Ian Hamilton took three for 77. Twelve-year-old debutant Eliot Rowe took a wicket with his very first ball.
Only Mike Harding (49) and Adrian Rowe (26no) caused Trafford any real worries, as Wilmslow closed on 118-8.
