Ralph Thompson

FORMER worker of SS Stotts until redundancy, Mr Ralph Thompson, of Manchester Road, Haslingden, died on Saturday 26 July aged 73.

Born in Maryport, Cumbria, he moved with his family to Preesall near Knott End and finally to Haslingden in 1947.

He was in the army for three years before returning to Haslingden.

After redundancy he spent the last 12 years as a gardener and handyman.

Brother of the late Phyllis and Edna, he leaves his brothers James and Albert, sister-in-law Jackie and brother-in-law Ken, seven nieces and nephews, nine great nephews and four cousins.

His funeral is on Monday 4 August when the Rev Ken Fitzsimmons will lead prayers at the chapel of rest at 1.50pm followed by a service and cremation at Accrington at 2.20pm.
